Grief is Everywhere

It catches my breath
her strand of hair
Sparkling silver amulets
tinkling the necklace I wear
Tiny kitten in the road
death is so unfair!
Three pages of obituaries
beneath the vegetables I pare
Shocking movie endings
catch me unaware
Keepsake boxes opened
free Chanel to the air
End of life papers
I must repair
Daily disease casualty
still hunting for the cure
Another tragedy in the news
just too damn un-rare
Shopping receipts crumpled
recordings of your fare
Shoes tossed out
now you walk on air
And your fast food toy
squeaks peek-a-choo
Are you there?

Grief. Is. Everywhere.
